December Daily 2011 : The Bones

Not only did I get my Christmas cards sent to the printer today but I also put together the bones for my December Daily.  I started it at about 2 am last night... down to the wire, per usual.  I am following the same format as I did last year: one Instax photo per day on a piece of patterned paper. I'm keeping it incredibly simple otherwise it has a snowball's chance in hell (hee) of getting completed.

For the cover I used a Studio Calico alphabet journal and covered it with adhesive cork paper that I found at Michael's.  This cork paper is the coolest stuff ever and it cut like butter with my American Crafts trimmer.

I added some little stamped Hero Arts snowflakes and gold embossing powder on the edge of the cover.  I cut a snowflake out of Hambly woodgrain paper and added My Mind's Eye pink twine.  The tag is from Staples with Lily Bee stickers (love these stickers) and two little gold glitter bells. 

The inside of the cover uses the Hambly again with Amy Tangerine washi tape and a Studio Calico chipboard tag.  The silver stars are from Michael's and I also added a little border of numbers using the 7 Gypsies Numero stamp set.  The December stamp is the one I had custom made.

The plan is to stamp the bottom of each photo and add a tag for journaling into the album if needed.  I cut a bunch of patterned papers down to 5x5 and have about five empty spots to add in any other memorabilia papers like catalogs, wrapping paper, menus, etc.

Back to Business

We took a little local California vacation for a few days and it was so wonderful. We housesat for Amy + JC for a couple nights and enjoyed a fresh change of location. Plus some yummy Mexican food for dinner just down their street.  From there we drove into the desert for a night at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.  It was paradise there.  Relaxation station.

I brought my wide Instax 210 camera with us and remembered how much I love this camera.  It's been a long time since I pulled it out, but I want to use it again for my December Daily album like last year's.  How are you putting together your album this year?  Anyone else doing Instax?

Brooklyn Flea

Brooklyn Flea and the rest of the December Studio Calico kits are now on sale... don't miss out this month - they're fabulous! I love these kits especially because everything that I didn't get a chance to use is something that I am actually excited to have in my stash for later on.  It is all going to good use.

This month I mixed in pieces from the main kit, Brooklyn Flea,  add-on #1 Salvaged, add-on #2 Shiny Brite, add-on #3 Snow Cone, add-on #4 Printer's Drawer.  I love the way the new website has the gallery set up (for many reasons!) but mostly because now you can have access to each designer's gallery to favorite and leave comments on layouts.  Here's the link to my gallery and here are my layouts...

That burst stamp.  I just love it.  I cut out circles for masks and misted the background, then just kept layering on top here with the beautiful blue papers.

A really simple one just because I couldn't be done this month without using some of my favorite pieces from the kits - the Ormolu tags, the Ali Thickers, that red chevron and the happy AC leaves.

A little card because I loved the adorable Amy Tan tag... it was begging to be paired with the pink woodgrain paper.

SC December: Brooklyn Flea

It's Studio Calico Sneak time!  The December Main Kit is called Brooklyn Flea... any idea who had a hand in naming that one?  Loving the name and all the kits this month.  They rival my favorites - Paper Moon - as being the best of the year! 

I played with little pieces of Brooklyn Flea, add-on #1 Salvaged, add-on #2 Shiny Brite, add-on #3 Snow Cone, add-on #4 Printer's Drawer... they all are must-haves. Here are my sneaks:

The burst background from Printer's Drawer is my favorite background EVER.  Used here with white Zing!

A simple one that I whipped up at the last minute and it may be my favorite of all of them.
