Chicken soup may have been good for my soul ten years ago but the 29 year old me turns to a big bowl of ramen. There's something about the warm broth, the dense noodles, a runny poached egg floating along peacefully, and bites of pork that has become my new comfort food. Any day that includes ramen is a good one.
I was once asked out on a date to do a ramen crawl around NYC using this list as a guide. I might have fallen in love with him that day, had it ever happened. My number one bowl was David Chang's Momofuku Noodle Bar for so long. Until I met Ippudo.
It doesn't hurt that Ippudo also has the best pork buns in the world. In the world.
I could eat a buffet of these babies every single day. Whatever they do at Ippudo, they're doing it right.
Julie and I had a late lunch there last week and I've woken up dreaming of this food every morning since then. I must go back very very soon.
Some of the best food I can eat. A conversation with a wonderful friend. Enjoying the breeze in Union Square park while I digest it all. This is chicken soup for the single girl's soul.
