On The Twenty-Eight List I have... #11: Have a Picnic in Central Park and #26: Throw a Cupcake Tasting Party. We're halfway through October. It was time to kill two birds with one stone. Giddyup.
I rounded up five girlfriends, thirty-six cupcakes, and one gallon of milk. I'd picked up vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet from bakeries that always make the top cupcake lists (Billy's Bakery, Buttercup Bake Shop, Tribeca Treats, Amy's Bread, Sweet Revenge, 2 Little Red Hens) (yes, the infamous Magnolia did not make the cut.) I printed up little score cards so they were rated on a scale of one to five.
Let's just say that trying to eat at least two bites from eighteen cupcakes is no small task.
And I'm talking about six girls who love.to.eat.
Cupcake toppers were easily made with a Crate Paper 6x6 slab, the Fiskars Cupcake punch (LOVE this thing), American Crafts ribbon + Thickers, and my Tiny Attacher.
Pretty sure this was my best idea to date. I got to spend a gorgeous fall day in the park eating cupcakes with my wonderful girlfriends. Who make me laugh so hard that milk was very very close to coming out of my nose.
And a special guest appearance from my friend D who weighed in with his opinion as well.
And so after 3.5 hrs of taste testing, the winners are...
VANILLA - Sweet Revenge
CHOCOLATE - 2 Little Red Hens
RED VELVET - Amy's Bread
Let's be honest. All of the cupcakes were the real winners because they slayed us that day. I doubt any of us will be able to take a bite of another cupcake anytime soon.
Well done, cupcakes of New York. Well done.
